Fall is taking over and things are cooling off some finally. Making for some happy fish feeding across the state just pick your target and enjoy. Expect topwater bass fishing to be good until we get actual cold fronts, then itll slow into some great streamer fishing. Fall also means great camping weather making for great overnight and multi day float paddle trips, its not all about fishing if ya dont want it to be. Scenic views, nice paddles, good food, friends and family are also fun ways to enjoy the outdoors.
The Brazos river is running Perfect and fishing great expect this to continue into December but flows to gradually drop eventually unless we start getting more water. Topwaters still good early and this week later in the evening with the full moon coming friday. Streamer fishing has been going strong most of the day but also like topwater is best super early, then some poking around with heavier stuff and a strong aggressive bite turning on towards the evening. With the flows being great from Possum kingdom to Waco we have a ton of floating/paddle options that arent always as doable making for a great time to learn a new stretch or do a longer float through less traveled waters. Ask us about our multi day and night trips, come camp riverside and see some wild places. Can accommodate large groups.
Alligator gar and longnose trips are still going great with several giants landed this year via fly rod. Time is limited for these native giants with winter fast approaching they arent fans of the cooler weather. Come get on them in the next month or wait until next spring. Mostly a Trinity and Brazos river deal.
Bowfin flats are high and dry in a lot of places but if you know where to look theyre still playing. Come sight fishing soon though because they also arent fans of the cold. Options from east Dallas to Lake Conroe.
Arkansas Smallmouth are fired up and like our largemouth and spotted bass fattening up for winter. Flows are a bit low though making for limited paddle and float options unless we get rain. Theres always somewhere to fish in the Ouacitas’s.
Plenty to look forward to as we cool off. Whitebass, striper and crappie are starting to make more appearances. Schooled up bass are working shad. Pickerel are getting frisky. Less boaters on the water. Camping weather. Your smiling face holding a big fish making memories. Come on!
