Its cooled off here and were riding the front waves. That means a few different things depending on your goals this time of year. The warm up days are now what its all about for fly fishing unless your chasing stocker trout, doesnt mean you cant catch em on the cold days but a few consistent warm days will probably be better. Lots of streamer fishing this time of year for largemouth, spotted and smallies bigger shad stuff is still crushing it but slowing down and getting on the bottom on those cooler days will make a big difference. Never count out a clouser minnow either cooler weather fish like crappie, white bass and striper have been making appearances and are all to willing to eat small minnow patterns. I have fly fishing options all around greater Dallas, Fort worth and north Houston this time of year.
Cooler weather also mean nicer camping weather. So grab a couple of friends or get your family together and come experience a Texas adventure paddling, fishing, eating great and camping river side on one of Texas’ prettiest rivers. The upper Brazos river is my go to from Possum Kingdom to Waco but i have options across the state and can adapt to any preferences. If you havent caught fish all day, enjoyed a riverside dinner, fell asleep staring at the stars and woke up to the sounds of the river in a while then heres your chance what are you waiting?!
One last unique option thats limited this time of year Duck hunting. I have options for hunts, cast and blasts and overnighters doing a bit of both for the really adventurous folks. These are fun trips with lots to do and a focus on safety so come ready to enjoy the outdoors but remember to be safe. All public Cast and Blast fly fishing lets go! Texas Racks and quacks also has lodging an hour north of Houston with guided trophy whitetail, hog, duck and fly fishing options if your looking for a fancier option feel free to ask more for details.
In closing id love to see yall soon and guide ya on a Texas fly fishing adventure. Stay safe and always have fun!
