Summer fly fishing Texas!

Its been a wet year for Texas and some parts maybe to wet. But for the most part things seem to be chilling out for us in DFW and Houston is getting back to normal. The fish have been loving all this water and most lakes are full and fishing great. The early morning topwater bites been great frogging the shallows with flooded vegetation and schools of bass chasing shad making for some hot action but it can go fast. Dont sleep in and if you do streamer fish, chase carp or look for that late evening bite. Cloudy light rain days have been great into lunch time. Hit me up if you want to hit one of the lakes east of Dallas like Fork, Tawakoni and Holbrook to name a few. If its to toasty for ya that fall bites coming.

The Brazos river from Possum kingdom to Waco has been all over the place this year and thats not a complaint. Its been a great water year as mentioned making for some great fishing in sections we cant always float or run our boats. That means fishing less pressured happy fish and seeing different scenic streches. While things are flowing a little lower were still getting decent releases and seeing happy fish. Same as the lakes early and late topwater bite on frogs if you want but booble bug stlyed poppers and pencils poppers slay. From their have a streamer rod set up with a 3 sec or intermediate line and throw olive/white clouser, gamechangers in wht, chrt, tan or olive, D & d’s in olive/wht, chrt or grey/flashy, crawfish patterns tight to structure or slow stripped with a full sink tight to gravel and dont be scared to play with other stuff. Lots of tailing carp and buffalo depending on the section as well, with really happy fis in the morning. Clear water also means sight fishing freshwater drum and they can a blast so look for them along gravel in current or next to in and make your shot count. x small lead eyed carp bugs work great may go heavier depending on current. Come on out and join in on the fun with paddle options in the kayak, floats in the raft or runs in the metal boat and dont forget we have multi day and over night options!

Alligator gar and bowfin fishing has been interesting this year with all the water. My go to big gar stuff has been running high but as long as the hurricanes stay away things should kick off soon. The swamp option is a go though and weve pulled a few nice ones out. Hit me up to get after them before we start cooling off. As for the bowfin we have options on Fork, Tawakoni and Hubbard near DFW and for the Houston area folks Lake Conroe and some swamps. Checked Caddo and it was high and mostly off color in my go to swamps but hoping it gets better as flows drop. Come do some thing different and chase prehistoric fish with a fly rod.

Falls right around the corner and that mean fish put the feed bags on. Book now and secure some epic bass fishing dates. October was ridiculous last year!

All skill levels welcome and guides are avalible if you want to book one but not a must to come have fun. Come out for a day or camp the whole weekend.
