Brazos river- the Brazos river has been fishing great! Basically a pick your poison situation literally everything’s biting. Top water fishing for largemouth and spotted bass has just been all day. Sight fishing freshwater drum and common carp has just been awesome with small carp bug and crawfish patterns. Waters super clear and all the fish are hungry!
DFW lakes- Most lake levels have dropped or are dropping and fishing is really picking up. Bass are shallow and taking topwater early and late in the day with some really productive streamer fishing throughout the day. Carp are either spawning or eating depending on the lake and the weather but either way. They are not hard to find and will eat if theyre not full on spawning. Sunfish are chewing also and schools of whitebass have been busting shad. Lake Texoma Striper fishing has also really turned on and some smallmouth have been making appearances.
Lake Conroe- has been really good and settling into a more summer fishing trend. Bass and sunfish have been skinny and taking topwater early and late in the day but streamers have definitely been more effective. Bowfin spawning is done and they have been out on the prowl and very willing to eat a well placed crawfish or ep baitfish pattern.
Lake Houston- the creeks have been running clear most of this year and fishing really good. Most of the whitebass, yellowbass and crappie have gone deep but a few are still around. The bass fishing has really turned on and always seems to get better the hotter it gets. Topwaters will work thoroughout the day but dont count out a clouser or woolly bugger especially if the bite slows down on ya.
Urban bayous- Urban fishing has been just ridiculous. This time of year theirs lots of big commons and koi around just have to get them on the “flat” and make the shot. Grass carp are always eating but this time of year dont count out some dry fly action or even hoppers especially if you find some risers.
