Were getting into that time of year again. The whitebass and yellowbass are working their way up the creeks and rivers and the crappie are piling into shallow structure. Its shaping up to be a great run. Tons of males already showing up with some big girls mixed in. So if youre looking to get a rod bent the next couple of months are the best times to do it no matter your skill level.
Also as all this starts and the water warms into the low 60s. Bass, Bowfin and Common carp all start getting shallow and start to think about spawning. Early spring is the best time of year to find Bowfin in spawning colors and its a sight to see. As for bass theyll start staging and working their way into similar areas as the bowfin and even mixing in with crappie. Making for several options to sight cast while pole/paddling the shallows. Then just when you think it couldnt get any better the carp spawn starts right in the middle of all this action and they can be hungry. Most averaging 12 to 15lbs giving your 8wt a run for its money.
Even though concrete carping is an all year deal. Around mid March and well into April can be down right stupid. So if youre looking for your best chance at bayou Common, Koi and Grass carp id highly recommend walking the bayou around that time.
Holy Carp! 2020 is also just around the corner. were debating 4-25 or 5-9-2020 if you have an opinion on dates feel free to comment or shoot me an email.
Anyways just wanted to fill yall in on things to look for in the next three months. Hope to see a few of yall out there. Paddle or wade lets go fishing!
